Lieutenant Hamilton is an experienced law enforcement officer with an 18-year tenure in the Chicago Police Department. Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Hamilton’s career in public service began with roles as a police officer in suburban areas and as a dispatcher for a consolidated dispatch center, where he coordinated emergency responses across multiple agencies.
Throughout his tenure with the Chicago Police Department, Hamilton has served in various capacities, including beat patrol officer, district-level tactical and gang team officer, and administrative and planning roles upon his promotion to Sergeant and subsequently to Lieutenant.
One significant aspect of Hamilton’s career has been his involvement in organizing and staffing command posts for major events in Chicago since 2011. These events have included the NATO convention, the Chicago Marathon, Lollapalooza festival, and the Cubs’ World Series victory, among others. Additionally, he is currently involved in planning command post operations for the upcoming Democratic National Convention, and he will be observing operations for the Republican National Convention to assist in preparation efforts.
Hamilton’s interest in radio communication dates back to his youth when he acquired his first radio scanner at the age of 12. Over the years, he has gained experience with various radio systems, including VHF, UHF, and 800MHz systems, as well as the use of push-to-talk (PTT) cellular products for police operations.
