Dr. Leonard Weiss, MD, FACEP, FAEMS, is an associate professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. In the Division of Emergency Medical Services, he specializes in out-of-hospital care and medical transport. He is medical director of the City of Pittsburgh Department of Public Safety, an attending emergency physician at Mercy Hospital, a flight physician and assistant medical director for STAT MedEvac, and medical command physician for University of Pittsburgh Medical Center’s Communications Center and Airline Consultation Service, STAT-MD. He serves as the medical director for the City of Pittsburgh Police-SWAT, as well as medical director of Carnegie Mellon University EMS. His passion for medicine started at Indiana University where he trained and worked as an EMT. Dr. Weiss completed his residency and fellowship training at the University of Pittsburgh. He is co-investigator for the University of Pittsburgh Resuscitation Logistics and Informatics Venture (ReLIVe) and holds board certifications in emergency medicine and the emergency medical services subspecialty.
