Donald Harriss is the Uncrewed Aircraft Systems Technical Lead for the Communication Technology Laboratory within the Public Safety Communications Research Division at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST PSCR). Donald is researching the current and future applications for Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS) in public safety and first responder events. Currently, he is investigating cybersecurity controls, privacy implications, and solutions regarding artificial intelligence and communications systems used in UAS. Donald received a Master of Science in Cybersecurity from the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado, and a Bachelor of Science in Telecommunications from Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky. Donald has an extensive background in network switching, routing technologies, security middleboxes, as well as the development of deployable systems and global telecommunications networks.
