Brad Morell is the Director of Network and Technology Operations for the First Responder Network Authority and leads the agency’s international engagement. Brad is a global leader in public safety broadband communications, building collaboration among nations and the formation of events for international leaders to meet and exchange information. He has served in public safety since 1985 and with the FirstNet Authority since 2015, where he has been a leader in shaping how FirstNet has engaged with public safety, other nations, and the operations of the FirstNet network. Brad’s activities have aided in the speed of network deployment, helped ensure nations learn from one another, formed a common voice relevant to standards and shown industry a growing economy of scale that drives investment and innovation. He brings over 28 years of experience as a leader in public safety in areas of firefighting, Emergency Medical Services, law enforcement and emergency management. He was a first responder to the 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center, which identified communications issues that became the genesis of FirstNet. Brad has deployed numerous times in public safety, leadership, and advisory roles to large disasters globally. He lived in Asia for several years advising nations on resiliency, response, and recovery efforts. He served as the deputy director over public safety for the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City and has worked with five other Olympic host nations on their public safety related planning efforts.
