Mark Santaw started as the Deputy Chief Information Officer (CIO) of the US Army Criminal Investigation Command (CID) and Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) for the Criminal Investigative Management Systems (CIMS) contract which oversaw operations, maintenance, and development of 12 different mission system applications in a singular cybersecurity compliant enclave in July 2007.
In 2015, Mr. Santaw was selected as the CIO and continued building his team of IT professionals to modernize, develop, and field state-of-the-art capabilities, which later included FirstNet. Mark did not only support Army CID, but also Military Police Corps, and other Department of Defense (DoD) law enforcement agencies. His span of leadership included management of 18 mission systems spread across nine separate network environments with approximately 240 military, civilian, and contractor IT professionals working across 170 Army installations. During his tenure, he also acted as the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for the CIMS environment.
During his many years of civilian service with the US Army, Mark has attained many accolades and awards, to include the Army Achievement Medal for Civilian Service (x2), Civilian Service Commendation Medal, Meritorious Civilian Service Medal (x3), Superior Civilian Service Award (x3), and multiple "Special Act or Service" awards, but was also recognized at the DoD-level as the "2020 DoD CIO Award Winner" and at the federal-level as a "Federal 100 Award Winner", for providing solutions that benefited all DoD Criminal Investigative Organizations and numerous other law enforcement stakeholders.
