Bob Finney is the Director of the Communications Technology Division for the Collier County Sheriff's Office in Naples, Florida. He enjoys working with a forward-looking Sheriff dedicated to keeping the County as one of the safest communities in Florida. Bob began his public safety career 27 years ago as a dispatcher for Shelton Police Department in Washington State, where he was also a volunteer firefighter and emergency medical technician. Bob is an active APCO and National Emergency Number Association (NENA) member, serves on numerous committees, is a board member for the Partnership for Priority Verified Alarm Response (PPVAR), an Emergency Communications Center (ECC) Advisory Panel representative for RapidSOS, and was the chair of the Soutwest Florida Regional Domestic Security Task Force-Communications Focus Group for 17 years. Bob is passionate about emerging technologies, specifically Next Generation 9-1-1 and the FirstNet initiatives, especially in investigating how they can assist operations staffing challenges and opportunities to provide “smarter” responses.
