Measuring the User Experience for Public Safety Technology

Day 2: Breakout Sessions B | 26-Jun-2024 | 3:00 pm

Measuring the User Experience for Public Safety Technology

Gold Room

In this session, leaders from NIST PSCR’s UI/UX portfolio will discuss current approaches to measuring user experience, the science behind these methods, and the role of the designer in a user’s behavior. Public safety technologies — whether for immediate risks or for training — demand higher reliability and accuracy in user experience. The measurement methods and design features implemented by researchers, engineers, and interface designers predictably affect users. We will discuss when measurement matters and the responsibility with which technology designers are entrusted. This session includes examples of research approaches and suggested references for those incorporating measurement science into their user experience design.
