5G-based Indoor Positioning System for Firefighters using UAVs

Imperial Ballroom

This demonstration showcases a 5G-based indoor positioning (5G-IPS) system. Using state-of-the-art software-defined radios and leveraging the latest advancements in 3GPP Release 16, this system accurately captures Time of Arrival (ToA) and Time Difference of Arrival (TDoA) measurements from three different base stations. Attendees will see how these measurements are used to precisely locate user devices using advanced triangulation techniques. Additionally, this demonstration includes a graphical user interface (GUI) to showcase real-time user device location. These developments are necessary for first responders as they provide precise location information in indoor environments, improving response times and situational awareness during emergencies.
