Gary Howarth

Gary Howarth is a scientist and program officer for the National Institute of Standards and Technology's Public Safety Communications Research Division (NIST PSCR) and the Privacy Engineering Program. Gary leads research projects mission critical voice communications and privacy-enhancing technologies. Previously at NIST, Gary managed the Differential Privacy Temporal Map Prize Challenge and co-led the Tech to Protect Prize Challenge and the mFIT Prize Challenge. Gary earned his doctorate in the chemistry department at Columbia University. He previously taught high school science and co-founded the NET Charter High School, an open admissions public school for teens under adverse situations in New Orleans.
