About this speaker
Lt. Nick Ragucci has more than 12 years of service with the DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department (DCFEMS) and currently serves in a leadership role focused on operational technology and public safety communications. As a foundational leader in the development of the Department's newly organized Command Tactical Units (CTU), his work has helped shape the integration of the Communications Unit, Drone Unit, and Command Unit into a coordinated operational support capability. Together, these units provide critical technology and communications support for daily emergency responses, complex incidents, and large-scale special events.
His operational experience includes serving as a Communications Coordinator for major National Special Security Events (NSSE), as well as a Communications Unit Leader (COML) for numerous planned events and emergency incidents, including the response to the January 2025 midair collision over the Potomac River in Washington, DC. In these roles, he has supported the coordination of mission-critical communications, interoperability, and multiagency operations in complex, high-profile environments.
With a background in public safety technology, his experience spans interoperability, mission-critical applications, incident command operations, and the integration of emerging technologies into complex operational environments. At the center of this work is a commitment to making technology practical, reliable, and accessible to the personnel who depend on it, connecting technical capabilities with the real-world demands of emergency operations.
